work for late nights.

Grrrr.

the fact that tumblr only allows mp3 audio posts is extremely frustrating.

oct. 16!

i cannot stress how excited i am to see this film. i loved this book as a kid, and from what i can tell, the movie will be just as wonderful.

as for the picture, thank you New York Times.

flu.

last night i developed a fever, and so today i have to stay home so i don’t infect anyone. it’s made me feel incredibly weak and cold all the time, and last night was the most uncomfortable sleep i’ve had in a long time. i was constantly hot and sweaty the entire night and woke up several times because my comforter started to feel incredibly heavy, as if i couldn’t get out from under it, trapped in some kind of invisible hold. buttt at least today i can continue to be wrapped up in blankets, drinking ginger tea, and continue my internet search for a nice cardigan.

there’s this asian market a couple blocks from my house i used to go to every once in a while, but lately i haven’t. they had this delicious drink called Coco Rico (i think thats what it was called), which was basically sparkling coconut juice. and then of course they had all the delicious cheap asian knock off snacks that we love so much.

i feel as if i’ve been doing nothing these past months. i need something to keep me busy so i’m not watching fox on demand so damn much.

if i were an animal, i’d be a penguin.

i’m selling my bike for some easy money to spend on a new lense, and i’m going to inherit my dads bicycle. i am hoping to repaint it so it looks something like this.

im going to kill photoshop if i can’t get it to work. i’m just going to crawl up on the floor and scream.

the mandigans. i found the guys while searching a cover of the wombats. they’re a group of 16 year old british kids, and yes. they’re awesome.

i have a new hero.

his name is Bill Clinton. fuck yeah. i don’t really know what he did as a president, being that i was only a kid, except for the fact that he was impeached from office in 2001? anyways, now that he has left the presidential office, he has a lot more freedom to work with in his campaign. he has this website called mycommitment.org, where pretty much anyone can commit to the campaign to volunteer hours, pledges, donating items, or my personal favorite, sharing an idea for a special cause. he talked about how two girls once had an idea to collect and donate old videos to hospital patients who were terminal. they made a commitment and have now collected over 48,000 videos for those terminal patients to enjoy.

i want to have a creative idea like that, and be able to make a difference and help people. i’d like to commit.

that, and i’m really out of shape. i need to start working out more often. ugghh.

i’ve decided i’m going to try to post a blog a day. does that sound reasonable? i think so.

Misunderstood.

i once read in a book that compassion evolved from the latin suffix ‘com’ and the root meaning ‘passio’. so in any language where the word ‘compassion’ is derived from latin the word compassion means that we cannot look upon those who suffer without sympathizing with them. in other words, we pity, and to take pity on someone is to show that they are inferior to us, that we ourselves stoop down to their level. this is the reason compassion can raise suspicion, because if we love out of compassion, we do not really love. In other languages, however, the word ‘compassion’ is not derived from the root suffering, but rather the root feeling, so compassion (co-passion) means not only that we cannot live with those who suffer, but also to feel any emotion they have- anger, joy, pain… it is the supreme sentiment, the supreme love.

i preferred the second.

of course, love doesn’t matter if we decide to believe Neitzsche’s concept of eternal return in which life is solid and meaningless. bahaha.

post-its are wonderful. i’ve recently found that many people consider them overrated overrated, but i think they are incredibly practical(not to mention they come recyclable and in awesome colors).
i’ll probably even end up using them to jot down blog ideas. View high resolution

A Pirate’s Winter

this is going to be my first blog ever, and i’m not really sure what people usually put, so i’ll start with a picture.

it’s been raining (woo!) here in texas, and the weather has been lovely compared to the majority of the summer. i can’t wait until winter comes around, it’ll be wonderful. that said, i’ve always wondered what pirates do in the winter?
